On Tuesday 7th October 2008, 70 eager golfers lined up for the inaugural Brett Levien Sarcoma Cancer Foundation Golf Day at the beautiful New South Wales Golf Club at La Perouse.
The weather could not have been more perfect and all the players looked magnificent in their Team Brett Golf Shirt, Balls and Team Brett Golf Caps.
The prizes on offer included those for closest to the pin on all par 3's, The Longest Drive and Most accurate drive.
Also we had prizes for winner of 4BBB and runner up plus the individual winner and runner up.
At the post tournament lunch, Tony Cesare (whom we funded last year) gave a short talk on his research work and we auctioned off The Tiger Woods 1996 British Open Flag, A Danny Green - Anthony Mundine Framed set of boxing gloves, A Craig Parry '"One Dollar Cheque" and a One Night with ALL the extra's staying at Sydney's Star City.
The day was an immense success and raised approximately $15,000 which will go towards future funding of research into Sarcoma Cancer. We thank all the players for attending as well as the Golf Club and all the businesses that provided us with the critical support without which, we could not have made the day possible.
In 2009, we are holding the event again at NSWGC on Tuesday 6th October, which will be only a few weeks before The 2009 Australian Open which is being held at NSWGC, so the course will be in true championship mode.
We suggest everybody enters this date in their 2009 diary already!
Feel free to check out some of the photos from the day's proceedings.
