April 2007 marked the first ever Brett Levien Memorial Cricket Match. The game was played at Dangar Oval on a turf wicket especially prepared by the Cranbrook School's groundsman which was Brett's old school. The teams were based on the 2000 through 2002 Maccabi A-grade and B-grade sides of which Brett was a player in both. Indeed Brett was the president of the club in 2002-03. With age getting the better of most of the players, the game was a Twenty20 match. Spectators were treated to a day of laughs and high-quality cricket action. Everyone had some fun, enjoyed a beer or two and a sausage expertly served by Zel Nissen from Durty Nelly's Irish pub in Paddington. The food stall raised over $1,000 for the foundation. The match itself was won by the old B-graders in emphatic fashion with some notable performances form Brett Pozniak and Zac Zinman. Ben Einfeld put up a fight for the A-graders but it just wasn't enough. The second annual match is set down for Sunday 16th March 2008 and we are sure the -graders will be out for revenge. Come down to Dangar Oval in Rose Bay from 12pm onwards to share in the fun. We hope to see you there.
